Samuel (Sam) Skipper Bevers, a lifelong resident of the Justiceburg area, passed from this earth Saturday, November 5, 2022, in Lubbock, Texas. He was born on July 19, 1932, to Samuel Spencer and Dessie Mossel (Skipper) Bevers near Justiceburg.
On June 16, 1952, he married Odella Morgan in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She preceded him in death on April 14, 1998. He married JoAnn Reed on January 15, 1999. She preceded him in death on August 31, 2021.
After graduating from Post High School, he entered the United States Army. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Sam was a pumper, farmer, and rancher of his land. One of his favorite pastimes was enjoying his great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, the mother of his children Odella, his second wife, JoAnn, his daughter Brenda Lee, and five brothers Albert, Herbert Dale, David Franklin, Hershel (Happy), and Spence Bevers. He is survived by his son and wife Sonny and Virginia Bevers of Post, his daughter and husband Glenna and Chris Reiter of Post, Grandchildren Nikki Dresher of Post, Jason (Erika) Bevers of Douglas, Wyoming, Bruce (Cortney) Bevers of Krum, Kim (Wade) Ray, Christy (Rick) Tadlock, and Pat (Lacey) Reiter all of Post, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at the Post Church of Christ at 10:00 a.m. on November 15, 2022, with Travis Sweet officiating. Military service will be at Terrace Cemetery following the service. Pat Reiter, Michael Tadlock, Bruce Bevers, Jason Bevers, James Morgan, and Tommy Cole are Pallbearers.
