Some West Texas crops have suffered from our many sweltering days of 100+ degrees. Crops shrivel and leaves turn brittle even with plenty of water. One crop, however, that thrives with high temperatures is the summer squash zucchini.

Watermelon salad provides cool burst of flavor and color

Technically, eating something cold does not cool our bodies down, overall. We certainly feel cooler at first, but a few minutes later as we begin to digest the chilly drink or treat, our bodies actually heat up. But cool treats sure do feel good going down.
