Judge Boren

James Minus “Bud” Boren was born in 1870 as the second son of a family of three boys a n d f iv e girls in Berryville, Ark. When he was seven years old, he came to Texas with his fam ily. After spending close to a year living in a tent near Fort Worth, the family settled in Fisher County.

Patatas Bravas

Patatas Bravas is a potato dish, as we know it, which originated in Spain. The name translates to “spicy potatoes”. This hearty side dish goes well with so many entrees.

You know wine and cheese were made for each other. You also know not all wine pairs with all cheese. What is a person to do? Relax. Most wine you purchase at your store will pair with most cheese you purchase at your store. Perfect pairing? Maybe not. But an abomination unto the Lord? No.

First Sheriff of Garza County

O. B. Kelly came to this part of the country in 1892, and anyone old enough to have parents or grandparents who were here in the early days of Garza County would know this man. He was the first sheriff in Garza County when it wasestablishedin 1907.

Class of 63 celebrates 60 years

PHS class of 1963 celebrated their 60thclassreuniononSaturday,August 26, 2023. They all met that morning for coffee, juices, and an assortment of pastries. The afternoon was spent at the home of David and Karen Nichols, where they shared stories and enjoyed delicious snacks.

Ingredients and allergy information likely are coming to a wine label near you. Much is already mandated in Europe. The U.S. Treasury Department’s Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) is taking comments to finetune U.S. mandates. The process takes time.

Pasta shells with green peas

When I was a little girl, my mother and I spent every day with my grandmother. Iwouldsitbyherwhileshetold mestoriesofwhenshe was a young girl. She came with her widowed mother, brothers, and sister to the northeastern part of what would be Garza County in 1893.
