Angela Marie (DeJesus) Simpson passed away in Lubbock, Texas, on February 12, 2024. She was born January 16, 1977, in Geneva, Ohio, to Manuel and Sherry Gomez DeJesus. She grew up in Ashtabula but spent some of her childhood living with her father’s family in Puerto Rico. Time spent on the Island became some of her best memories of her early years. She was a 1996 graduate of Slidell, Louisiana High School. She also cherished the years she lived with her grandmother, Dominica Antoinetta, in Big Spring, Texas. While in Big Spring, she worked as a lab assistant for a Biology Professor at Howard College. Fifteen years later, on September 5, 2015, Angela married the biology professor and love of her life, Lynn Aaron Simpson. They made their home in Mexia, Texas, and later in Post, Texas.

Angela earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Keiser University and a Master of Science Degree in Autism from Grand Canyon University.

She taught elementary special education for six years, first at Mexia ISD and later at Post. She adored her students, and they loved her. Though they frequently challenged her, she knew it made her a better teacher.

Angela loved to sing. She sang in church choirs most of her life and found a home singing in the First Baptist Church of Post choir, and cherished her fellow choir members. She and Lynn liked to travel and antiques. Though not a Rotarian, she enjoyed attending Rotary events with Lynn and was a Paul Harris Fellow.

She treasured her family. Having six siblings, reunions were loud and chaotic, and she cherished every moment. She prized her many friendships, present and past. She tried her best to stay in touch.

Angela was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Lynn, big brother Manuel DeJesus, Jr. (wife Tiffiney), brothers Enrique DeJesus (wife Bobbie Jo), Christopher Gomez Enos (wife Gesela), Carlos DeJesus (wife Rosemary), Jose Gomez Gomez, sister Alicia Mae Gomez and almost two dozen nieces and nephews that she loved and adored.

The Family would like to thank the Post ISD and Garza County Community for their help and support over the last 1 - ½ - year.

A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Post, Texas, on March 2, 2024, at 10 am. The family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church of Post Wednesday Night Meal Program for the Post youth and homebound, the Garza County Historical Museum, or your favorite charity.
