Jennie Lou Redman Cowdrey

Jennie Lou Redman Cowdrey, 84, of Post, Texas, passed away after a brief illness, surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Jennie was born on June 11, 1938, in the Close City Community at home on the farm, to Curtis Clyde Redman and Ethel Lenora Redman. Jennie attended Close City Elementary school, middle school, finishing 10th grade at Post High School. She completed her GED in 1974, walking the stage with her daughter Sue.

Jennie met and was courted by Bobby Cowdrey, getting married on December 6, 1954, in the home of Bobby’s parents, Delmer and Mary Cowdrey. Bobby and Jennie were married for 67 years 10 months. They raised five children, Ella Sue, Amy Lenora, Lisa Lou, Curtis Delmer, and Robert Clay.

Jennie was a skilled homemaker, bookkeeper, cook, referee, and mom. She loved working in her yard, and flower garden, and making candy which she shared with everyone. She loved her grandkids and spoiled them completely. Christmas and Birthdays being her favorite time for her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids, always sending cards and gifts.

Jennie was preceded in death by her parents Curtis Clyde and Ethel Lenora Redman, sisters Ruth, Wilma, Mary, and twin brother Jimmie, and three other young siblings, and daughter Ella Sue Luft.

Jennie is survived by her husband Bobby Cowdrey, daughters Amy Easterling and Lisa Bartley, sons Curt Cowdrey and Clay Cowdrey. Grandchildren Garret and Chase Luft, Lem and Jennifer Bartley, Brice, Cole, and Kylie Easterling, Robert Chad and Caleb Weston Cowdrey, Conner and Collier Cowdrey, eleven great-grandchildren, and one sister Maxine Cook A Memorial service was held on October 25, 2022, at Graham Chapel Church of Christ in Post, Texas, In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to Graham Chapel Community Center, Lynn County Hospital District, American Cancer Society.
